"ENORMOUSLY BENEFICIAL"

Joey, NECAT

EQ2 Training was enormously beneficial to NECAT, as we work with adults who have faced serious challenges in their lives. By learning the characteristics of a trauma-informed training environment, we’ve become better equipped to handle difficult situations that arise among our staff and Now, we look at ourselves, our students and our outcomes with a shared understanding on how trauma can impact learning, behavior and relationships. We’re a stronger, more cohesive team as a result.

"The most effective training I have participated in"

Sparkle, Berkshire Farm Center and Services for Youth

When you begin to work in the childcare field, one of the first things you are taught is to “not take things personally.” As an adult, you’re expected to just know how to do that. Participating in EQ2 gives you the self-awareness of how you may feel during a youths crisis, how the trauma they have experienced may trigger you, and how you might be able to best respond. I believe those are the stepping stones in beginning to learn how not to take things personally. As a Supervisor, EQ2 has helped me to realize that staff too experience trauma when our youth go through crisis, and how important it is to talk to them after crisis situations to make sure they are ok. We expect our staff to be ok. "They're adults, they’re fine," but that’s not always the case. Of the 14 years I have been in the childcare field, EQ2 has been the most memorable and effective training I have participated in and I feel it has made me a better supervisor.

"The Lionheart Foundation has filled a tremendous gap with EQ2"

The Lionheart Foundation has filled a tremendous gap with its new EQ2 Curriculum for organizations and staff who desire to have a positive impact serving youth and young adults. The training allows staff to safely and honestly recognize how we as caregivers need to be able to show up for young people if we want to do any meaningful work with them and provides practical tools that staff can use in real time. We are excited to integrate EQ2 into our staff training at Roca across all of our sites in Massachusetts and our newest site in Baltimore Maryland! Thank you for helping us serve our young adults better!
